London’s newest museum – Moco – opens next week

London’s newest museum opens next week, although it’s less of a museum than a private art collection, which will be shown on Oxford Street.

The Moco Museum (Modern Contemporary Museum) is an independent commercial museum specialising in modern and contemporary arts that opened in Amsterdam in 2016 and then, in 2021 opened an outlet in Barcelona. Last year, they took a lease on three floors of an Oxford Street building close to Marble Arch and will open their doors for the first time on Saturday 10th August 2024.

The diverse art collection includes art from Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Banksy, KAWS, Takashi Murakami, Tracey Emin, Daniel Arsham, Damien Hirst, Six N. Five, Refik Anadol, Jeff Koons, Studio Irma, Anthony James, Hajime Sorayama, Julian Opie, Andrés Reisinger, Invader and many more.

As part of a soft opening, they’re offering 30% off all tickets bought in advance during the early bird period. So, adult tickets that will cost £20.90 are currently available for £14.63 when booked from here.

A note, that their first temporary exhibition, Marina Abramovic’s ‘Healing Frequency’ will open on 11th September, so the discounted tickets won’t include that.

Once it opens, the Moco Museum will be open from 9am to 9pm every day.

SUPPORT THIS WEBSITE

This website has been running now for just over a decade, and while advertising revenue contributes to funding the website, but doesn’t cover the costs. That is why I have set up a facility with DonorBox where you can contribute to the costs of the website and time invested in writing and research for the news articles.

It’s very similar to the way The Guardian and many smaller websites are now seeking to generate an income in the face of rising costs and declining advertising.

Whether its a one-off donation or a regular giver, every additional support goes a long way to covering the running costs of this website, and keeping you regularly topped up doses of Londony news and facts.
