London’s premiere live jazz club Ronnie Scott’s has been on our bucket list for quite some time so we were excited to finally visit and it certainly did not disappoint. We were lucky enough to enjoy the sublime sound of BINKER GOLDING, part of his band included one of the only professional harmonica players in the country and boy can he play!
We were sat at the bar which provided the perfect opportunity to sip on some of the delicious cocktails whilst taking in smooth jazz, with such divine music you can hear a pin drop as the eclectic crowd sit in silence and listen to every bar! The beautiful sound was felt to the core, as many of the crowd began to sway to the beat!
The decor is divine with low cocktail tables with pretty lamps, reminiscent of old Hollywood.
Binker Golding’s show was a compelling mix of compositions brought to life by slide-guitar, a driving rhythm section and Golding’s trade-mark, hard-hitting tenor sound. With songs that sound like the wide-open landscapes of mid-western America, DOGWOOD is an album that has the blues, Americana & heart-land rock running through its veins. He first performed DOGWOOD at Ronnie Scott’s and the sound of the tracks are epic, they perfectly capture the all the elements of traditional and contemporary American music that make his jazz album so appealing, from country, the blues and bluegrass right through to heartland rock.
